LUMS Ranked in Top 50 of World’s Best Small Universities by THE
LUMS is a young university, making an impact in the region and in the world. The University has received global recognition as a leading institution in the Times Higher Education (THE) ranking for the world’s best small universities 2021. LUMS was ranked 50th with the added distinction of being the only university in Pakistan to be on the list since 2020.
To be eligible for the ranking, universities must appear in THE’s World University Rankings 2021, teach more than four subjects, and have fewer than 5,000 students. LUMS has also been ranked in the top 501–600 universities in the world, and in 2022, was recognised by THE World University Rankings by Subject in Engineering.
And the accolades keep coming. LUMS also won the THE Awards Asia 2022 in the Excellence and Innovation in the Arts category out of a record number of 500 nominations. Earlier this year, the University was shortlisted for the Student Recruitment Campaign of the Year and Excellence and Innovation in the Arts categories. Known as the 'Oscars of higher education' these awards recognise outstanding leadership and institutional performance and celebrate excellence in Asia’s higher education in all of its diversity.
These rankings and awards are a testament to faculty expertise, diversity and intensity of research and the quality of the student learning experience at LUMS. Dr. Arshad Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, said, “We are incredibly proud that our international presence is becoming more visible. LUMS is a relatively young University, which has become reasonably comprehensive and is making an impact thanks to the achievements of our faculty, staff, and students. We aim to continue to provide a unique, personalised education emphasising access, merit, integrity, and quality which will sustain its future efforts.”
