France Education Fair Opens Doors to Higher Education in France for LUMS Students
LUMS collaborated with the Embassy of France to organise a first-of-its-kind Choose ‘France Education Fair’ through France’s Cooperation and Cultural Affairs department at the campus. The event aimed to unlock higher education opportunities for LUMS students at leading French universities, besides facilitating an informal interaction between the students, faculty and French delegates to discuss educational prospects and avenues for bilateral cooperation.
The Expo began with a tour of the university campus for the French delegates. In his opening remarks at the first session, Dr. Arshad Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, LUMS, welcomed the delegates by saying, “We strongly focus on making a long-lasting impact through promoting cultural diversity and inclusion.
The French Expo will unlock world-class education opportunities for our students and broaden their horizons through exposure to new sets of knowledge, experiences, societies and cultures. We are honoured and delighted to host the worthy French guests here who have been extremely supportive in organizing this event, practically transforming it into a step towards strengthening the cordial relations between the two nations.”
LUMS, apart from providing the highest quality education and training, offers exposure to diverse academic communities, with representation from all geographical and socio-cultural segments to its students. The University’s fully-funded National Outreach Programme (NOP), winner of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Platinum Award 2021 in the ‘Best Practices in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ category, offers talented young men and women from less privileged communities learning opportunities. The programme itself creates an infinite multiplier effect through scholars, who become change agents for their families and the broader communities.
The University serves to further instil diversity, inclusion and pluralism amongst the students through exposure to more and more manifestations of society and culture. While sharing her views, Sabine Vermillard, Attaché for Scientific & Higher Education, Embassy of France in Pakistan said, “This event will be instrumental in bridging sociocultural gaps between the two nations. By coming together for joint pursuit of education and research, the students will be able to explore and diversify their learning that will provide these future leaders a framework to view global issues and opportunities through a more inclusive and unbiased lens.”
The Special Attaché also briefed the students regarding the application process to make the entire procedure smooth and hassle-free. The event featured multiple presentations from representatives of LUMS and French universities that were attended by students in large numbers.
